Karachi: Protests of opposition parties and outburst of ministers marred the proceedings of Sindh Assembly here Tuesday and most of the agenda of the day remained unfinished.

When the sitting started the opposition members insisted that their resolutions be taken. However, Education Minister Nisar Khuhro stood and harshly spoke against the opposition.

However, he was given answer in the same currency by PML-N, PML F and PTI members who also chanted slogans of ‘shame, shame.’

Khuhro criticized the opposition parties for their press conference of previous day in which they had complained about the speaker. He said the speaker had not said that he would not accept the anti-Altaf resolution of these parties but only said he would not consider out of turn resolution.

However, the members of MQM protested when minister for local government Sharjeel Memon spoke on water shortage issue and took name of MQM MNA Dr Farooq Sattar. He said he had not committed a crime if he had taken action against illegal marriage halls built on amenity plots or sacked ghost employees from local government department, KMC and KWSB.

He said water shortage was a real and serious issue of Karachi due to increased demand and meager supply of water to the mega city.

Besides several minor protests were also seen in the House by the opposition parties in which the government and opposition members traded allegations and disturbed the House. Due to the protest introduction of private bills, private resolutions, motions and other business could not be carried out. (PPI)
