KARACHI: At least three policemen including a DSP were killed in the Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of the city on Friday morning.
According to details unknown gunmen opened fire on the vehicle of DSP Fateh Muhammad Sangi . The car was attacked by four gunmen on two motorcycles.
The DSP, his gunman and driver were killed on the spot. Police arrived at the site and started an investigation.
Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and directed concerned authorities to investigate.
DIG East Munir Sheikh told Geo News that the DSP was killed along a route which was regularly used by him. He added that DSP Fateh Muhammad was in plain clothes when he was targeted.
He further said that the attackers took the government issued ammunition of the DSPs guard. The attack was carried out after conducting recee and was being investigated, the DIG said.
IGP Sindh Ghullam Haider Jamali speaking to reporters said the attack on the DSP was target killing. He added that the incident was being investigated. The IGP also praised suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar saying he played an active role in eliminating terrorism.
The post mortem report has revealed the DSP was shot nine times while police constable Farooq and Nazir were shot eight times each. According to the report the policemen were targeted from four sides and 9mm pistols were used in the attack.
