Geo News awarded Agahi Favourite News Channel award again
ISLAMABAD: Geo News received another feather in its cap on Saturday, being dubbed as the channel ‘that always was and remains’ the ‘Favourite News Channel’ at the Agahi Awards held in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD: Geo News received another feather in its cap on Saturday, being dubbed as the channel ‘that always was and remains’ the ‘Favourite News Channel’ at the Agahi Awards held in Islamabad.
Over the last year, Geo News faced some difficult storms but continued its tradition of informing its audience which resulted in the ‘Favourite News Channel for 2015’ award by Agahi.
This is the third time Geo News has received this award.
Agahi Awards was launched in 2011 to boost confidence of Pakistani journalists by presenting awards for playing an important role in the field of journalism.
This year, a large number of journalists and TV channels from all over Pakistan were nominated in 35 different categories.
Awards were presented to deserving candidates in categories such as Business & Economy, Conflict, Corruption, Crime, Education, Energy Water and Food Security, Environment, Gender, Governance, Health Human Rights, Infotainment, Interfaith, Judiciary, Media Ethics, Photo Journalism, Terrorism and Extremism and several others.
Agahi, a programme launched in 2011 by Mishal Pakistan, is increasing the capacity of Investigative and responsible journalism in the country. This programme aims to use institutionalized sustainable media structures in Pakistan to raise the bar of journalistic standards.
The programme has been able to successfully create a debate amongst the journalists from Multan, Karachi, Rawalpindi/Islamabad and Mirpur-AJK on media ethics, interfaith harmony, anti-money laundering and the importance of investigative journalism.
