QUETTA: Labourers working on development projects in Balochistan will now require a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Home ministry.

Sources at the Balochistan Home Ministry have informed Geo News that contractors will now need to submit documents of their labourers and acquire a NOC. This decision was taken after 20 laboureres were killed in Turbat when terrorists opened fire at their camp on April 11.

The attack in Turbat was not the first on labourers in the province. In October 2014, eight labourers were killed in the Abbas Goth area of Lasbella. Workers have also been attacked on roads, bridges and the Cadet College in Panjgur.

There are 20 major development projects which are being constructed in Balochistan which employ approximately 1,500 labourers.
