Jilani commends role of Pakistani diaspora

DALLAS: Pakistan Ambassador to US Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani has said that Pakistani diaspora is playing a commendable role in the development of Pakistan and in raising the living standard of Pakistani society for which he is grateful to them.

He was addressing a special leadership Luncheon hosted by Pakistani American Association of Texas.

“My role as an Ambassador of Pakistan is also shared by the Pakistani leadership in the room,” Jilani said, adding, ‘I and my nation take a lot of pride in American Pakistanis as they are playing important role in the development of both the countries.’

He said that Pakistani diaspora in US has always helped in various challenges Pakistani nation has faced.

“However, I can say this with full confidence that Pakistan is much more stable now than in previous years. Not only in terms of peace but also in economic stability and development, the current day Pakistan is standing much stronger than before.”

He said that this is not his personal assessment but all international agencies are in agreement that Pakistan is moving in a right direction.

Jalil Abbas Jilani said that he has served as Secretary foreign affairs in previous administrations, so he is talking from a bigger perspective and knowledge on this subject.

He said that with the help of US Government a large number of development projects are completed while a number of projects are in pipelines which will directly impact and help Pakistani society.

Pakistani American Association of Texas (PAAT) President Dr. Javed Ajmal welcomed all the participants of the leadership luncheon while its founding President Dr. Amir Suleman also addressed the event.

Professor Dr. Samir Iqbal presented his research topics on Nano Technology and focused its applications in Pakistani context.

Dr. Iqbal presented suggestion on usage of Pakistani Americans scientific research for providing solutions to issues in Pakistani economy.

The event was also addressed by PAAT’s director and spokesman Syed Fayyaz Hassan as he introduced the high caliber of scholars, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, civic and political leadership in Pakistani Americans as well as local representatives and civic leaders.

PAAT General Secretary Ashar Ahmad, famous journalist and writer Ethan Casey, also addressed the audience. The organizers specially thanked Amir Ali Rupani for his help in the arrangement of the event. Dallas County Commissioner Theresa Daniel presented shields to the Ambassador and Council General for their support for Pakistani American diaspora.

The event was also attended by Dallas County Schools President Larry Duncan, the Chief Deputy from Dallas County Sheriff’s office, UT Dallas Asia Center Director Monique Wedderburn, Texas Christian University Director of International Studies John Singleton, Chair of Gendercide Awareness Project Ms. Beverly Hills and a large number of Pakistani Americans including PAATs directors Ghulam Waraich, Rashid Dara, Naeem Choudhry, Fun Asia Entertainment owner John and Shariq Hamid, Asian Chamber of Commerce President Shabnam Mogdul, Doctors Association of APPNA President Dr. Zaem Nawaz, prominent businessman Aslam Khan, Pakistan Christian Cultural Association President Javed Samuel Gill, Muslim Community Center founding chairman Dr. Bashir Ahmad, South Asia Democracy Watch Directors Asif Effendi and Raja Muzaffar, Nadeem Akhtar, Pakistan People’s Party USA Vice President Dr. Fareeha Somro, CAIR DFW President Amina Rab and a large number of dignitaries and social and civic leaders.
