Hashmi says had advised Imran not to resign from assembly

MULTAN: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi Saturday said he had advised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan not to resign from the assemblies, as he had feared that it would lead to the members’ parting ways with the party.

MULTAN: Veteran politician Javed Hashmi Saturday said he had advised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan not to resign from the assemblies, as he had feared that it would lead to the members’ parting ways with the party.

“But Imran Khan believed that the assembly would stand dissolved the moment the resignations were tendered,” he said while talking to media persons here.

Speaking on PTI’s return to the assemblies, Javed Hashmi said even Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) did not want PTI to resign.

To a question if PTI would be able to submit evidence to prove rigging in the general election of 2013, Hashmi said he and PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi had told Imran Khan that the rigging was not carried out in a fashion that could be proved.

He ruled out general elections in 2015 and expressed his wish that the existing government should complete its lawful tenure.
