First ATR 70 leased by PIA lands in Karachi

KARACHI: The first ATR 70 aircraft leased by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) arrived in Karachi on Saturday.

PIA Chairman Nasir Jaffar Rahman and employees of the national flag carrier were present at the airport to welcome the plane.

KARACHI: The first ATR 70 aircraft leased by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) arrived in Karachi on Saturday.

PIA Chairman Nasir Jaffar Rahman and employees of the national flag carrier were present at the airport to welcome the plane.

Speaking to the media the PIA chairman said aircrafts would now be taken on a dry not wet lease. He added that the government has provided $52 million for the uplift of PIA and this money would not have been invested if the intention was to sell PIA.

The ATR 70 has a capacity of 70 passengers and seven other aircrafts will be leased by PIA.
