KARACHI: The funeral prayers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Waqas Ali Shah has been offered at Jinnah Ground on Thursday.

A large number of MQM workers and office-bearers attended the funeral prayers.

MQM activist Waqas Ali Shah, 26, was killed mysteriously when a single bullet hit his face during Wednesday’s raid at party headquarters Nine Zero by Rangers.

Earlier the murder case Waqas Ali Shah was at the Azizababd police station.

The case was lodged on the complaint of the government and not family members of Waqas Ali Shah.

The MQM alleged that Waqas Ali Shah was killed when Rangers personnel resorted to ‘straight firing’ on its workers during the raid at their headquarters. The Sindh Rangers denied the allegation, saying that the man was killed by a small arm fire, probably a 30 bore or a 9mm pistol, which is not used by the Rangers troops.

Speaking to a private news channel, Director General (DG) Sindh Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar denied that Waqas Shah was gunned down by the Rangers.
