LAHORE: Seven people were killed and five injured when the roof of a two-storey building collapsed in Wah Cantonment late on Monday night.

Seven bodies were taken out of the rubble, according to figures from rescue workers at the end of the rescue operation which lasted over five hours.

The dead included four children, two women and a man.

Five injured children were also taken out alive and later shifted to DHQ hospital for emergency treatment.

The two-storey building was said to have collapsed due to heavy rain, which also caused problems for Rescue 1122 personnel during the operation. The workers were aided by army personnel and Edhi workers as they tried to free those trapped underneath the rubble.
