PTA extends time for biometric verification of SIMs
KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Dr Ismail Shah has said that PTA has decided to extend time for biometric verification of subscriber identification modules (SIMs).
Speaking in the Geo News programme, Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, PTA Chairman said all unverified SIMs will not be blocked at midnight today. He said overseas Pakistanis have requested for using local mobile numbers.

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Dr Ismail Shah has said that PTA has decided to extend time for biometric verification of subscriber identification modules (SIMs).
Speaking in the Geo News programme, Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, PTA Chairman said all unverified SIMs will not be blocked at midnight today. He said overseas Pakistanis have requested for using local mobile numbers.
Dr Ismail said the consumers will be asked for registration via Short Message Service (SMS). He asked consumers to verify their SIMs as soon as they receive message on their cell phone.
He said till now 10 million SIMs have been blocked.
He said the second phase of SIMs verification will begin from today (February 27) and continue till March 14.
He said if the consumer did not transfer closed SIMs to his name, these would be issued to others.
