DUBAI: A Sindh police team along with Rangers, which was in Dubai since February 5 to take custody of Uzair Baloch has failed to approach him and the matter has been delayed for a number weeks, sources said on Wednesday.

Baloch, the alleged leader of a criminal gang operating in Karachi's Lyari area was arrested last month by the Interpol in Dubai when he was attempting to cross into the United Arab Emirates from Oman.

According to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) sources, on the order of Dubai courts, Baloch will be handed over to Pakistani Interpol officials through the Consulate. The sources said that custody in international countries was a complicated matter under international law in which the roles of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Interpol, and the Consulate were all important.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the Pakistani team in Dubai were all on tourist visas and according to the immigration authorities the team cannot take any legal action and all they can do is partake in leisure.
