Over 100 illegal structures razed in Korangi

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Anti Encroachment Department demolished more than 100 houses and shops in Korangi.

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Anti Encroachment Department demolished more than 100 houses and shops in Korangi.

The illegal structures had been put up along the road and the green belt from Bilal Chowrangi to Murtaza Chowk in Korangi according to a handout issued here on Sunday.

The relevant district municipal administration police rangers K Electric , SSGC, Edhi Ambulance and Fire Brigade staff assisted in the anti encroachment operation which was led by KMC Anti Encroachment Department’s Director Mazhar Khan.

Scores of stalls, push carts, cabins and shops selling chicken, fish, fresh fruit, vegetables, sugarcane juice as well as make shift restaurants were removed.

Land grabbers tried to obstruct the removal of encroachments but they were effectively dealt with by law enforcement agencies personnel.

The action against encroachments was taken after complaints by local residents and in line with the court’s directives.

Assistant Deputy Commissioner Korangi Waseemuddin, Assistant Commissioners Dr. Rafiq and Imtiaz Abro, Deputy Director Anti Encroachment and other officers were present during the operation.
