LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique Saturday said sale of Pakistan Railways’ land without following the due process will be discouraged through computerizing its records of land across the country.

Talking to media persons, Saad Rafique said shopping malls and plazas will be built on the Railways’ land.

The Minister said life insurance plan is being considered for the Railways’ employees and an agreement in this regard will be made with a company which comes up with a best deal.

He told the reporters that Pakistan Railways earns Rs700 million from fares, adding ‘this is just a beginning and a lot of work remains to be carried out, as revenue generation has been on top of the ministry’s agenda’.

Saad Rafique said the politicians of a country which is plagued with crisis should not have time to waste by engaging in unproductive activities.

He said the politicians should desist from acting in haste and that ‘we should work in all earnestness for the development of the country’.
