ISLAMABAD: The Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed on Thursday throughout Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit Balitistan and across the world capitals with a renewed pledge and collective resolve to show the fullest support of the Government of Pakistan, the people of Pakistan and the Pakistani Kashmiris, living abroad for the people of Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) and their just cause for the right of self-determination.

Rallies across the cities of country and in the world capitals were held by the people of Pakistan and from both sides of Kashmir along with the Non-Governmental Organizations, Human Rights activists, think tanks, media people, intelligentsia and people from other walks of life.

A number of seminars, conferences and demonstrations were held throughout Pakistan and elsewhere in the world.

The voices, raised from various quarters, during the seminars and workshops rallies and demonstrations and the slogans inscribed in the placards and on the banners showed the people’s geared up resolve and fervor in the backdrop of Modi’s recent anti-Muslim campaigns and discriminatory attitude.

They said the Kashmir dispute remains close to the heart of every Pakistani and the future of both Pakistan and Kashmir is linked to the resolving of Kashmir dispute and the people of Jammu and Kashmir would not at all let the Indian government succeed in changing the demography of the Muslim dominated region.

A major event was organized at Kohala where thousands of people from all parts of Pakistan built a human chain to express their solidarity and full support to the people of Kashmir.

The event was organized at Kohala Bridge that connects Pakistan and AJK. Various politicians, social workers and representations from various pro-Kashmir groups and parties had taken part in the event.

The leaders said, “we all have to unite under one flag and free Kashmir from Indian yoke.” Many other politicians, federal and provincial ministers from Punjab, KPK and AJK had participated in the event and expressed the same sentiments for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

The participants shouted anti-India slogans demanding India to quit IoK as soon as possible.

The demonstrators urged the government of Pakistan to take solid steps to resolve the issue on urgent basis. India cannot suppress the right of self-determination through plebiscite of Kashmiris by force.

Kashmiris in Azad Kashmir and around the world also held rallies and functions to highlight their just cause and draw the attention of the UN and international community to pay as much attention to their struggle as they did in South Sudan and East Timor.

Now 4th generation of Kashmiris is actively pursuing their struggle for self-determination and they are committed to offer every sacrifice for their sacred mission.

The peaceful indigenous and wide spread uprisings of the Kashmiri people have clearly demonstrated that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be ignored. Thousands of Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives and many more have been languishing in Indian jails yet they are steadfast and resolute. (APP)
