Altaf condemns Rangers ‘raid’ at CPLC chief's house

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday condemned an alleged Rangers raid at the residence of CPLC chief Ahmed Chenoy.

According to media reports, the paramilitary force raided Chenoy’s residence in the morning.

However, the CPLC chief denied such reports and told media that the Rangers personnel met him to discuss a case relating to kidnapping for ransom.

Meanwhile, a MQM spokesman claimed that Chinoy had backtracked from his earlier stance on the incident.

Speaking at a press conference, CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy had said that the Rangers officials visited his residence to share information regarding the case.

He said that a conspiracy was hatched to malign the organisation. There was a third element, which fabricated information such as recovery of some cash and the recovered youth’s mother from his residence.

The MQM spokesman said either Chinoy should not have held the press conference, and if he had to, he should have revealed facts and resigned from his post for being under pressure.
