PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Friday demanded of the government to launch an operation against Punjabi Taliban in the Punjab province.

Addressing a ceremony held to mark the death anniversary of Wali Khan, the ANP General Secretary said the Punjabi Taliban are educated and more dangerous than other terror outfits. He said that disciples of Punjabi Taliban have been operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

Hussain further said all seminaries should be registered and there should be no distinction between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ Taliban.

Iftikhar also called for a probe into the bank accounts of terrorists.

In a video message on September 2014, the leader of Punjabi Taliban, Asmatullah Muavia had announced to call-off armed struggle in Pakistan, saying the organisation would continue its Dawat Tabligh (preaching) and would be operating in Afghanistan.
