WASHINGTON: The commander of US forces in Afghanistan, General John Campbell has warned the Islamic State (IS) also known as Daish is recruiting members in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In an interview to a foreign publication, General Campbell said: "There have been some night letter drops, there have been reports of people trying to recruit both in Afghanistan and Pakistan, quite frankly."

The US general’s warning comes after wall-chalking with the name of Daish appeared in several cities of Pakistan last month. The militant group has also used its social media accounts to publish a video for former Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Shahidullah Shahid. The flag used by Daish can be seen clearly in this video.

In December, a video pertaining to Daish was made by students from a madrassa in Islamabad while two people were arrested in Karachi for spreading propaganda of the militant group on the internet.
