Held Sunni Tehreek activists confess to target killings

Karachi The Anti-Extremism Cell (AEC) claimed that during interrogation, four activists of the Sunni Tehrik (ST) confessed to carrying out target killings of members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan. In addition to this, arms and ammunition as well as hand grenades were recovered from the suspects when they were being taken into custody. SSP Mohammad Aslam Khan of the AEC said that a few days ago, activists of the ST were held by the police and later sent to the AEC for interrogation on the directives of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Saud Ahmed. The suspects were identified as Mohammed Waqas, Mohammed Jawad Qadri, Aqeel Ahmed and Ahsan Qadri. While they were being interrogated, the suspects revealed their hideout to the investigators. Law enforcers raided the place and discovered a Kalashnikov, a rifle, 3 TT pistols, a hand grenade, a revolver, a repeater and several bullets. They further disclosed that they had killed MQM activists Jaffar and Kashif in Risala, Imran, Mushtaq Memon in Naipier, MQM UC Nazim Hanif, MQM Saeed alias Gullu and Haji Fareed in Risala. They had also killed banned SSP leader also Peshimam Irshaadullah in the Soldier Bazar area, while two more activists of the MQM were eliminated in the Nabi Bux and Garden areas. SSP Khan said that the police had recovered a hit list from their possession, which included the names of political leaders and activists.
