PAKISTAN Awami Tehreek (PAT) has decided to hold countrywide rallies from January 17 to protest delay in justice in Model Town incident and non-formation of a judicial commission.
This was decided at a high-level meeting at PAT secretariat Tuesday, said a press release. The rallies will protest and begin a signature campaign against the appointment as ambassador at World Trade Organisation of Dr Tauqeer Shah, a former principle secretary of the chief minister, who is among the main accused of Model Town incident. This signature campaign will begin at PAT secretariat today (Wednesday).
The press release said a written complaint would also be sent to WTO regarding the alleged role of Tauqeer Shah in killing of innocent PAT workers. It will also contain a document bearing signatures of all the families of the killed and wounded persons in Model Town incident.
PAT president Dr Raheeq Abbasi said PAT had postponed its protest rallies after Peshawar incident and now these were planned on completion of six months of Model Town incident.
