Come on, skinny love

When asked, most women count overplucking their brows as the biggest style and beauty faux pas of their youth. However, could we see trends cycling back from lush and wild to dramatic and drawn-on?

Come on, skinny love

hances are, you have seen your eyebrows go anywhere from slightly natural to completely taking over your face in the last few years. When did eyebrows become such a statement? We’d like to think it was just in these previous times we have lived through, where we reclaim our natural shapes and growth. Not so. The resurgence of a very natural, very ‘80s brow actually followed years of us tweezing down the frames to the windows of our souls to twiggy little nothings, followed by slightly fuller but still sharply arched frames.

The good thing about the natural brow is that there is minimum upkeep. The terrible thing is, full brows tend to make facial features lose just a tad bit of definition. Makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin, who ruled the ‘80s and ‘90s with his signature makeup, along with the gift of contouring and natural looking skin, also gave us the fashionably skinny eyebrow. Look up the celebrity artist for makeup inspo from the OG – and in the meanwhile, look at these images and contemplate your own brow health.

Cindy Crawford had to be one of Aucoin’s muses, the two made real splashes through via Vogue together in the ’80s. With what can only be described a regal mane of hair, Crawford had eyebrows to match, till they were unceremoniously plucked away by the makeup maestro.

There’s no denying that Iraj Manzoor is among Pakistan’s foremost and most diverse supermodels, and she has never shied away from experimenting with her look. While Iraj has often worn her hair and brows thick and full, she too romanced the skinny brow during her career.

Everyone’s favorite flowerchild Drew Barrymore has gone through a bunch of style and beauty transformations, but her ‘90s look remains most iconic. With striking platinum hair, the dark, goth lip, and the very, very on-point eyebrows for the time, we’re sure the actor inspired a lot of us to follow suit.
