Coke Studio Live set to debut in Dubai

Following the success of its latest season, Coke Studio is all set to go live in Dubai later this year. Artists from the television show’s lauded season 14 – that has even been covered by The New Yorker and CNN – will perform at an event that will be held at the UAE’s Coca-Cola Arena on October 14.

Coke Studio Pakistan’s Season 14 has been one of the most successful yet with over 4 billion online views and 10.2 million subscribers on YouTube,” the venue’s website asserts. “Coke Studio Live Dubai will build on this to deliver a night to remember for music lovers across the UAE and beyond!”

As per the show’s current producer Xulfi, the event will offer “a great line-up of acts drawn from across the musical spectrum and specially selected for the first-ever live show to give the UAE an experience to remember.”

Tickets are priced from AED 175 (around PKR 10,000) to AED 799 (PKR 46,000) and will be available for purchase later this month.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the legendary singer’s nephew, took to Twitter to pay homage to the icon. “You touched countless lives in your lifetime,” he wrote, “and even after your death, you live through your music and your family legacy. You will always be missed!”

Actor Shaan Shahid also penned a tribute to the ‘Halka Halka Suroor’ singer, calling him a “true ambassador of Pakistan”. “His voice and knowledge was a gift of Allah, as he took Pakistan to the world. His work will never be forgotten as he lives amongst his lovers,” Shaan stated. “May he rest in eternal peace.”

Born in 1948, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan came from a family that has been associated with qawwali for centuries, and rose to global fame before his untimely demise at age 48 in 1997.

K-pop band Blitzers showcase Pakistan in ‘Hit the Bass’

Lahore has been featured in all its glory in the music video for Blitzers’ song ‘Hit the Bass’. The K-pop newcomers shot the clip when they visited Pakistan in June.

Lahore’s iconic Mughal architecture – including the Badshahi Mosque and the Lahore Fort – as well as the distinct truck art that is a celebrated hallmark of Pakistani culture, feature in the music video. The group can also be seen performing at a wedding hall that is decked in red and gold.

‘Hit the Bass’ is the latest offering by the seven-member boyband from South Korea that made its debut last year and has since released several EPs and singles.
