arious facets of electronic music may have replaced the sound landscape of mainstream music with Coke Studio 14 being the single biggest example. But not the only one. Indie artists have been exploring and showcasing electronic music in its many hues for some time. You cannot help but remember some of the artists who contributed to the scene’s growth. And paved the way for how it is almost expected and consumed by audiences now.

But as the sound is being embraced by artists as they make music independently or via corporate-backed fashion, you can’t help but think about some of the artists who paved the way for this transition.

One such artist is Dynoman, the[former] co-founder of Karachi’s electrifying Internet label, Forever South (FXS) with Bilal Nasir Khan aka, Rudoh. FXS is now defunct but contributed in significant ways to carve a path that has led to an understanding of electronic music at present.

While Bilal Nasir Khan/Rudoh is running Jugaar Records alongside (and Sameer of Soundistan and Thai aka Latraf) last time we checked, his partner at FXS, Dynoman has dropped new music.

Now based in the USA, Dynoman (Haamid Rahim) has founded his own label called Dynoman Music. Through the label, he has released a sizable amount of music. Among the releases, his most recent one is an EP called Edits 01 ft. three songs.

Speaking to Instep in an exclusive conversation from the USA, Dynoman confirmed that Edits 1, his 2022 release, is not going to be the only release from him this year. “Yes, I have a few releases coming out this year. All under my label Dynoman Music.”

Apart from releasing more music this year, Dynoman is also involved with a curious project. He told Instep, “I’m currently co-running the project I founded Rare Frequency Transmissions with Zara Dekho at a variety of places in Brooklyn/NY venues such as Mood Ring & Jupiter Disco.”

As Dynoman confirms: “I was invited to play at Fourth World, an annual techno festival with over 40+ artists. I have a digital release coming out Aug 26 date, artwork made by Samya Arif, Mastered by Swaya made in Brooklyn, NY. I have a physical cassette coming out September 30 called Mana Burn, artwork by Sophie Loloi mastered by Ali Berger made in Brooklyn, NY.

“I have a back-to-back DJ set with Bergsonist; others on the bill include Shigeto and Tammy Lakkis & lifesavers all in New York.”

Even as many of Pakistan’s indie and mainstream artists may or may not reside in Pakistan anymore, their music holds just as much value. Dynoman is one tremendous example. Follow him on Bandcamp to engage with his complete releases post-FXS days.

Another massive example of success is the coming of Boiler Room to Pakistan. But more on the latter as the story develops. For now, check out some of Dynoman’s music. He always manages to surprise listeners while delving into layers of electronic music.
