ehchaan had a pretty good showing with its premier. The advancing story has followed the same intriguing pattern. Written by Rubina Kabir Khan, directed by Asad Jabal and produced by Momina Duraid, it stars Hiba Bukhari and Syed Jibran as the main characters.

Viewers last left Kuki (played by Hina Bukhari) and her husband Adnan (played by Syed Jibran) in an ambiguous relationship of convenience. He may or may not be cheating on her, and seems emotionally unavailable. While Kuki seems detached and emotionally drained from carrying her family on her shoulders with little to no emotional support from her husband. She feels particularly strongly about her husband’s dismissal and trivialisation of casual affairs. This might determine her decisions in the upcoming episodes.

Kuki leaves Turkey for Pakistan on the pretext of a family oriented visit. It becomes obvious however that things are not what they seem, as Kuki does not seem too happy about her visit.

After radio silence from Kuki, her in-laws and husband become concerned. They assume the worst and wonder if she’s been kidnapped or if there’s a trafficking element involved. After some research, it is discovered that Kuki was last caught on the airport CCTV footage. Her family and friends have failed to track her beyond that.

Adnan suspects Aziz (played by Mirza Zain Baig) as the reason for his wife’s disappearance, especially since he spots him in the footage from the airport.

Over a span of a few episodes, Pehchaan has done a really good job of creating fleshed out characters and a sense of mystery. The pace of the story will leave most viewers with a sense of curiosity and they will continue to tune in for Kuki’s disappearance.

Kuki and Aziz have a history and go way back. Due to her close friendship with Aziz’s sister, the two had frequent opportunities to interact, which led to Aziz developing romantic feelings for her. When he proposed to Kuki, she declined because she was interested in Adnan.

Adnan travels to Karachi to look for Kuki with the only lead he has. In a flashback, it is revealed that Kuki and Adnan had had a very heated argument about Aziz and his sister’s role in Kuki’s life when they used to live in Pakistan. Kuki refused to back down. She clearly said however that she was not interested in Aziz, and never had been.

Adnan goes to Aziz’s house looking for Kuki and makes some snide remarks. Aziz informs him that Kuki is not with him. He also says has no interest in another man’s wife. He also invites Adnan to his wedding.

This leaves Adnan dejected as his only lead did not pan out. The gravity of the situation is weighing him down as his children begin to have their own problems with their mother’s disappearance.
