3 things we learnt this week

Nimra Bucha is shy, says Nimra Bucha, but kind of badass, says Mohsin Sayeed of the Pink Tree Company

She’s achieved two incredible feats in the last couple of weeks, as Sarmad Khoosat’s Kamli opened to rave reviews, and Ms. Marvel aired its first episode. While speaking about Kamli to Instep, a conversation that deserves its own space and is forthcoming, Bucha described herself as, “shy, and uncomfortable being [herself] around people.”

So it is really fortunate that her chosen profession is acting, which allows her to be not herself for large chunks of time. Well-played, Nimra Bucha, well-played. Even when talking about herself, she will find a way to divert the context towards something or someone else, so the story isn’t directly about her.

Interestingly, Creative Director of the Pink Tree Company, Mohsin Sayeed spoke about Bucha’s Ms. Marvel premier outfit, which Sayeed says was made according to his famous client’s request.

“She wanted something different, a sort of ghundi look,” Sayeed told Instep, in another conversation, also forthcoming (so keep checking in; we have met some really fun people in the last few weeks!).

Pink Tree made Bucha a bespoke outfit in teal brocade and burnt orange silk, with the brocade also being custom-made for this very outfit. We must say, Nimra Bucha looked amazing at the premier, and has looked fabulous throughout promotions for her then-upcoming projects.

Did you know: The Kababjees pizza edition

Okay, we know you’re like, what the fudge, but guys hear us out. Kababjees in Karachi does a good pizza. Ordered on a whim during a late night, the Karachi BBQ joint did not disappoint. Now it’s not world-class cuisine, but it tastes good, so put your artisanal slice of pizza aside and give your local cheese a chance.

Did you know: The Brew apple tart edition

If you live in, or love - or both - Islamabad, you must have been to Brew in Shaheen Market. So, as huge fans of all kinds of pies and crumbles, the Brew apple tart was a revelation. With the most delicate crust, the tart was made special by the complexity of flavors the tart apples, very sweet, warm, vanilla-y syrup it was cooked in, and the hint of spices that lingered but didn’t overpower. Are you in or going to the Capital? Run to Brew and try their incredible tart and other desserts!
