Eid flicks

May 1, 2022

The Pakistani film industry comes to life every Eid to bless our movie-loving hearts with some big screen entertainment. Just like every year, this Eid-ul-Fitr, too, has a lot in store for cinemagoers. Whether you’re looking for comedy, romance, mystery, or thrills, just head on over to a movie theatre near you, order some overpriced snacks, and enjoy these latest offerings from our local filmmakers.

Parde Mein Rehne Do

A couple’s struggle to conceive is at the centre of Parde Mein Rehne Do, Wajahat Rauf’s latest cinematic effort. Written by Mohsin Ali and starring Hania Aamir and Ali Rehman Khan in the lead roles, the film sees the director try something a little different from his previous movies (Karachi Se Lahore, Lahore Se Aagey, and Chhalawa) this time around as he aims to present a social issue in a lighter way.

Dum Mastam

Dreams and aspirations collide with matters of the heart in Superstar director Mohammad Ehteshamuddin’s latest project Dum Mastam, a rom-com that blends “love, laughter, music, conflict, and emotions”. Written by Amar Khan who also stars as the lead alongside Imran Ashraf, the film features songs by the likes of Shiraz Uppal, Bilal Saeed, Azaan Sami Khan, and Momina Mustehsan.

Chakkar

Chakkar brings some murder mystery mayhem to the big screen in the form of an action thriller with a tinge of comedy. The movie is directed by Yasir Nawaz (Wrong No., Mehrunisa V Lub U), and sees Neelum Muneer play the dual role of two sisters, one of whom appears to be the victim. The cast also includes Ahsan Khan and Jawed Sheikh, while cricketer Shoaib Malik is set to make a cameo in the film.

Ghabrana Nahi Hai

Action, romance, comedy … Ghabarana Nahi Hai promises to deliver it all. The Saba Qamar starrer tells the tale of a fierce woman in what many still see as a man’s world; a daughter fighting for justice for her wronged father. Helmed by Saqib Khan and featuring music by Shuja Haider, the movie promises an action-packed episode that explores crime and corruption, and (hopefully) delivers a lesson in just why you should never underestimate women.
