As Kanye West gets barred from performing at the upcoming Grammys, a trip down memory lane.

All of the Lights

Kanye West’s behaviour is quite possibly the reason why he was left out of the recent Superbowl performance that was an ode to hip-hop. Anyway, Kanye West, who has won 22 Grammys cannot perform at this year’s Grammys, confirmed a rep from the music and fashion mogul. The news comes after his “concerning” behaviour online when he found the need to utter a slur against The Daily Show host and comedian Trevor Noah who had defended his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. Kanye West, now known as Ye, had his account suspended from Instagram for 24 hours and as the list of performers was released, his name was not on it. As Ye is off the list of the Grammys, here are some of the performances you must find before the
64th ceremony arrives on April 04, 2022.

Kendrick Lamar ft. Bono and The Edge

Kendrick Lamar, hip-hop and rap artist, often called greatest of all time, hasn’t performed at the Grammys too many times but when he did take the stage, he blew the house down, whether you watch his 2016 performance or the last time he took on the stage of the Grammys in 2018. Coming out with rage that was as real as his albums, he performed a snippet of his hit, ‘DNA’, and the single ‘XXX’ with an American flag as the background. One of the sharpest songs from his album, Damn, the satirical performance saw Bono and The Edge taking some of the heat out of the performance, and adding a bit of peace before Kendrick takes back the mic as Dave Chapelle told him to rumble and rumble he did.

Elton John and Eminem

All of the Lights

Forever known as anti-LGBTQ+, in a 2018 interview with Sway to promote his album Kamikaze, Eminem finally sat down to answer the question. He pointed to his performance at the Grammys eons ago where he performed his hit single ‘Stan’ with Elton John and not British singer-songwriter Dido (unlike the music video and the album). As Eminem performed, he thought people would understand but they didn’t. Eminem won’t sit down and clear the air anymore but his performance with Elton John of ‘Stan’ at the Grammys in 2001 is his way of saying there is no venom.

Adele

All of the Lights

Adele is blessed with the kind of voice that can outshine a better songwriter with her heartbreaking songs. She’s performed at every major musical event, but her performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards with her Grammy winning song, ‘Hello’ was something else. The debut single off her album, 30, took years to come together and when it did, it spoke to millions around the world and won the artist a gazillion awards. So, it makes sense she belted it out and made global fans happy at a time when Grammy ratings were fizzling out with every edition.

Bob Marley tribute featuring Sting, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Ziggy Marley, Damian Marley

All of the Lights

In the ‘70s, the father of reggae music, Bob Marley, took it from Jamaica and made it international. An artist with political views, his 1984 album, Legend, is still the greatest selling reggae album of all time. He survived, according to multiple stories, an assassination and still continued to perform until he died from a form of cancer.

The artists who featured in the tribute have all been influenced by the late Bob Marley so it makes sense that multiple generations came together to perform the late Marley’s original songs before all of them joining forces to sing the very famous ‘Could You Be Loved’
