Director Asim Raza’s second feature film Parey Hat Love (2019), starring Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar in lead roles, recently won an award for Best Film on Wholesome Entertainment at the Indus Valley International Film Festival arranged by South Asia Forum for Art & Creative Heritage (SAFACH). The third edition of South Asia‘s first borderless, international travelling film festival was held in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The filmmaker took to social media to share the great news. “Congratulations to the most amazing team in the world, I am so blessed to be a part of you,” Asim Raza wrote acknowledging the efforts of his team. Singer, songwriter and actor Azaan Sami Khan, who composed the soundtrack for the film, also commented on the post to show his appreciation.

Apart from Maya and Sheheryar, the film boasted an ensemble cast including Ahmed Ali Butt, Zara Noor Abbas, Nadeem Baig, Hina Dilpazeer, Rachel Viccaji, Frieha Altaf and Parisheh James. The romantic coming-of-age comedy, which was written by Imran Aslam, garnered a lot of appreciation for its cinematography as well as the songs, especially ‘Haye Dil Bechara’, which continues to be one of the favourite songs at desi weddings.

In 2020, Parey Hut Love was nominated under 8 categories at the PISA Awards and won 5 of them including Best Director for Asim Raza and Best Actor for Sheheryar Munawar who also co-produced the film. Moreover, it was nominated at the 2020 Lux Style Awards in 5 categories with Ali Tariq bagging the award for Best Playback singer for his song ‘Behka Na’.

Ushna Shah and Usman Mukhtar to
feature in Zaheeruddin’s next

After garnering massive popularity in the critically-acclaimed drama serial, Parizaad, the vociferous Ushna Shah is all set to be seen in acclaimed director Zaheeruddin’s newest crime-thriller, produced under the Dareechay Films banner.

Ushna Shah will be seen playing a pivotal role, essaying a cricketer in the upcoming film. The actress has a string of notable performances behind her, suggesting that audiences can expect yet another enthralling effort, akin to her power-packed performance in the play Aakhir Kab Tak that just went off air in December 2021.

Apart from Ushna Shah’s strong screen presence and Zaheeruddin’s direction, the upcoming film will also feature the current favourite amongst audiences, Usman Mukhtar. The film is said to feature more stars, who remain unveiled. However, the script, which brings together exceptionally talented performers like Ushna Shah and Usman Mukhtar (Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay) will surely be worth the wait.

As far as the release of the anticipated film is concerned, it has been on the floors for a while and will wrap up its last schedule by the end of January 2022. The film will then go through post-production and be ready for the audiences to watch right after.
