Wedding crashers: The Nausheen and Yasir edition

In news literally no one cares about: Yasir Hussain and Nausheen Shah.

Okay, you must be wondering, if no one cares about this, why are you writing about it? We’ve got an answer for you, and the answer is: this falls in line with our recent commentary on how people tend to say completely ridiculous things on the record, be it an interview or Insta post, and then get offended when someone comments on it.

Okay so skip back to earlier this year, when Yasir Hussain mentioned to Vasay Chaudhry on his show that Nausheen Shah turned up at his and Iqra Aziz’s wedding uninvited. Thus began a war of words, with Nausheen Shah claiming Yasir Hussain has memory issues and Yasir telling her to back off, and Iqra being pretty, we guess?

Okay but that’s not all. In all of the above, everyone forgot to focus on Vasay Chaudhry’s comment on why Nausheen Shah might have crashed the wedding: “because she isn’t married and wanted to see what it’s like”. You guys wanna cancel anyone, cancel this guy who thinks he has to be that auntie at your cousin’s son’s aqeeqa, who must ask if you’ve had any good rishtas lately, or even better yet, tell you: “bohat healthy hogayi ho.”

Ok so moving on, this is a thing again. Because the Artists Formerly And Always Known As Sadaf and Shahroze aka Sadroze, have been quiet once again. Nausheen Shah was recently on To Be Honest with Tabesh Hashmi and this whole episode came up.

Nausheen Shah laughed it off, saying that clearly she loves going places uninvited, and crashes weddings, and that Yasir Hussain’s clearly received lots of mileage out of the whole thing, so why do they have to talk about it?

Okay so here’s the thing. People go to weddings tagging along with friends all the time. We’re not saying that’s what happened, but why would you point out one person who turned up at your huge event whom you don’t recall inviting? And call us crazy but we have a hunch that every single celeb is in competition with each other to see who can say the most ridiculous thing on-air.

And to that we have a suggestion: you hear a ridiculous celeb remark? Choose to say nothing. Ignore the event completely. Do not tweet about it. Don’t report it. Don’t do an indignant Insta story about it. Definitely don’t discuss it on Souls Bitches and Sisters. Don’t tag or hashtag ridiculous celebrities and their ridiculous comments. Stop getting them digital traction.

Maybe they’ll stop then.

P.s. If you count how many times the word ‘ridiculous’ was used in this piece, feel free to hashtag your favorite ridiculous celebrity and remember to tag us too!

The Activist, retreats

So you know all about the show The Actvist, which we are secretly convinced people were just hating on because Priyanka Chopra Jonas was on it. But no. There were lots of good reasons to hate on the show’s competitive format, which everyone had something to say about.

“Couldn’t they just give the money it’s going to take to pay this UNBELIEVABLY expensive talent and make this show, directly to activist causes? Actor and activist Jameela Jamil tweeted, while American activist Nabilah Islam had an opinion on the matter too.

“Fighting for issues is tough enough without having to dance and sing for a bunch of millionaires while they decide who’s worthy of their crumbs,” tweeted Islam.

And then PCJ herself apologized for the misdirection of the show and the makers of the show took it back too.

Now since the theme this week is ridiculous things celebs do and say, while we may or may not be huge PC fans, we do admire the fact that she owned this oversight and corrected it. Unlike some Pakistani stars we could mention who made a terrible statement and then went on to reiterate it on their socials and then again in some other interview. Insert eye-roll emoji. Also this is the last time we’ll mention Sadroze, we promise…this month that is.
