Here’s everything you need to know about this season’s most eye-catching eye-makeup trends

The second wave of Covid-19 continues to impact several
aspects of our lives, including the beauty products we use on a
day-to-day basis. With masks covering most of our faces (that’ll
remain a vital part of our daily lives for a little longer), we are
focusing more on natural skin and letting our eyes do the talking. While it may seem that our affinity with makeup has changed in
recent months, one thing for sure is that our eye makeup has never felt more appreciated. Veering away from the traditional hues, more unconventional shades have taken over and are here to stay.
This season ditch your signature style and add some oomph to your eye makeup.

Here are a few stunning trends that you can flaunt even with your face masks are on…

Glitzy glitter

Make sure you have plenty of glitter on hand, because your eyes are the only part of your face visible when outdoors. There is no denying the fact that matte, nude eyeshadows have their place, but if you need a little mood-booster when it comes to makeup, adding some glitz onto your eyelids will surely add that zing. Glittery eyeshadows come in many forms—creams, powders, subtle twinkles etc. – but the one thing they all have in common, they give the bling that you need. If you don’t want to go for a glittery eye shadow you can opt for a sparkly eyeliner. To make your eyes pop, apply a glitter eyeliner above your black liner.

Fun liner

Since our eyes are getting a lot more attention this season, thanks to our masks, why not make them a statement? Turn up the sultriness with some fun, unexpected takes on classic eyeliner. If we’ve learnt anything in the recent months, it’s that the bolder the eyeliner, the better. Play with vibrant colours, like neon pink or bright red; florescence brings so much focus to your eyes. Or you can even move to the lower lash line and try stunning hues. If you want to ease into the trend, stick with a classic cat eye, but swap black for a bold colour.

Subtle smokey eyes

Those who avoid radical trends can always opt for the subtle, smokey eye. According to beauty experts, this trend can really open up and lift any eye shape, especially those with puffy lids. If you are opting for matte eye shadows, make sure to slightly highlight the inner corner of your eyes. When we talk about smokey eyes, it doesn’t mean that black is your only option. For a subtle effect opt for a brown hue; it works perfectly to create depth, without being too overpowering. Remember, blending is key to creating a stunning smokey eye look.

Gilded lids

When in doubt, go with a gold eye; it’s alluring as well as classic. In fact, gilded eyelids were a dominant trend spotted at various international fashion runways. The classy gold eye look is easy to achieve; all you have to do is swap out warm browns for a beautiful gold shade. If you’re looking to go all-out with your eye makeup, go for a little brow definition, then swipe on a gold-foil eyeshadow, a few thick coats of mascara and you’re good to go.

Kohl rimmed eyes

Kohl-accented eyes have been popular for quite some time now. They not only create a smouldering effect, but the slightly smudgy band of black eyeliner is just perfect for a wedding. In fact, kohl rimmed eyes give off a ‘messy’ look without actually being messy. Kohl-accented eyes paired with dewy skin definitely looks fresh yet regal.

Technicolor lids

It’s time to get creative with the eyes and use all the colours of the rainbow to create something bold and unique on your eyelids. Beauty experts suggest painting colour-block shapes on the eyes. As far as this trend is concerned sky is the limit; and the best part is that you’re free to be as expressive as you want to be.
