Handicrafts are a true representation of the culture and traditions of a region. At the same time, they speak of the natives’ artistic prowess and craftsmanship. The Punjab is home to some of the country’s best admired handicrafts that range from blue pottery, wood works, embroidery and khussas to jewellery pieces and lamps that are made with camel skin and bones, respectively. Often based in small towns, the artisans comprising poor and uneducated but gifted men and women make up our remarkable cottage industry which has takers all over the globe. Lahore now regularly hosts arts and crafts festivals like Daachi, to immense public response.
