Hair trends to follow

If you’re looking to diversify your crown, here are a few hairstyles that are trending this season.

Winter, for most of us, is the perfect time to experiment with our hairdos or change our hairstyling techniques. Having dredged through a hot and humid summer, restricting our hair regime to ‘up and out of the way,’ winter comes with the allowance of cooler weather and the will to experiment. Admit it or not, nothing complements a person’s overall appearance more than lustrous hair that is well taken care of and styled in the hottest fashion. A trendy hairstyle can jazz up your whole persona and give you the oomph that you needed all through summer. Lucky for you, this season’s hair trends are both bold and experimental while others are super subtle.

If you’re looking for some trendy haircuts or a new way to add texture to your tresses, here are some looks that are giving us major hair inspiration.

The wet look

If you’re the kind of person that likes to try something edgy but not completely over the top, the wet look hairdo or slicked-back style is the perfect choice for you. This is one of the biggest trends that we witnessed on international fashion runways this season. The best part is that this look is ideal for any hair length. For a quick wet-look finish, rub a dab of hair gel between your wet hands and go through your hair roots. You can push your hair back behind your ears to create a slick effect or style it the way you want. The key is to keep re-applying thin layers of gel and combing it all back with a fine-tooth comb. Don’t forget to apply some hairspray once you’re done. For that ultimate wet look finish, add a touch of shine spray.

The ‘90s bob

This season, the chin-grazing bob is back with a bang. According to hair experts, for those straighter hair types, blunt, unstructured bobs at chin-level, styled with the hair tucked behind the ear and natural movement in the back, is quite in vogue. Another option is the French Bob, which is short, sharp and classic. If you’re fan of the short cut blunt bob, experts advise getting the front cut all in one length without any fringe. Since the bob already offers face-framing potential, it gives a modern yet fresh feel.

Deep side parts

Fashion has long embraced the centre hair parting and this edgy look has been spotted on every international fashion show. Though the strong middle parting is still trending right now, this season deep side parts are going to be all the rage as well. Hair experts predict that the deep side part will make its way through Spring/Summer 2021. Deep side parts with sleek, straight hair left loose or hair tied in a sleek low ponytail look trendy yet effortless.

Invisible layers

This style is super cool and grows out beautifully. If you have long hair and still want to keep it fresh, enter invisible layers – it is a strategically placed section on top of your head, which is cut in a diamond shape. These layers are disconnected from the length and hence add a soft layer that blends in seamlessly.

Chill ponytails

Anyone and everyone can pull off a classic hairdo like a ponytail. If styled in a fashionable way, a ponytail can look absolutely stunning. However, this season bid adieu to painfully high ponytails and say hello to the loose, low-tension pony. All you need to do is just brush your hair into a low, loose ponytail at the back of your head and secure it with an elastic band. If you want you can curl the ends of your ponytail around a curling iron, section by section, and brush them out while they’re still warm to create soft bends or you can leave the natural texture of your hair.

Messy chignon

Hair tied into sleek or messy buns made several appearances on the runways this season. Whether it is the classic take on the style, with hair pulled all the way back into a tight knot, or buns inspired by the rolled hairstyles of the 1930s, this hairdo is here to stay. Just rake your hair into a messy low bun – if you want you can pull out a few face-framing layers – and voila you are all set to go.
