A relatively upcoming and yet much appreciated name in television, Anoushay Abbasi has a number of drama serials to her credit including Tootay Huwae Per, Kaahe Ko Biyahee Bades, Mera Saaein 2, Nanhi, Pyarey Afzal and Mere Paas Tum Ho among many others. Earlier this year, she appeared in drama serial Ghalati, alongside Hira Mani and Affan Waheed, in which she brilliantly portrayed the role of cunning and selfish Maira.

Currently, the actress can be seen in drama serial Prem Gali, which features Sohai Ali Abro and Farhan Saeed in lead roles. Apart from that Anoushay Abbasi is also gearing up for her upcoming projects, Abdullahpur Ka Devdas and Raqs e Bismil that are slated to go on air later this year.

Over the years, not only has Anoushay proved her mettle as a versatile actress, but she has also worked on a fitness routine that is purely inspirational. In a recent interview the actress revealed that she is not fond of exercise so she started swimming and that has helped her lose excess weight, increase stamina and tone up.

To know more about her fitness routine, we caught up with the actress who shares how she manages to stay fit despite her hectic schedule.

Lifestyle choices

Talking about her lifestyle choices, Anoushay Abbasi shares that she is not a health freak. “I just try my best to maintain a balance. I believe that it is not about losing a certain amount of weight and getting slim; it is all about being healthy from the inside,” she says.

When asked about the secret behind her transformation, she replied, “I specifically cut down sugar from my routine and switched to healthier options.” Anoushay added that her daily diet includes a handful of dry fruits and nuts, a small bowl of vegetable or fruit salad, and lots of water.

Moreover, she stresses, “Consistency is the key if you want to keep yourself motivated for a healthy lifestyle. I have understood this with time and I swear by it.”

She also believes that a good amount of sleep is necessary to stay healthy, but being in the entertainment industry and the shoot schedules being quite hectic, the sleep pattern tends to get disturbed.

“There are days when I hardly sleep for three to four hours. However, on other days, I try to get at least six to seven hours of sleep.”

Eating habits

On what she consumes during the day, the actress reveals that for breakfast she usually takes oatmeal mixed with strawberries, dates and chia seeds. “I prefer green veggies as far as lunch is concerned and for dinner I eat barbecued chicken along with some baked sweet potatoes,” she adds.

She further went on to say, “I have a simple rule; I consume fruits and vegetables five days a week. The remaining two days, I cheat and indulge in pizzas and burgers.”

As for juices or shakes that are a part of her diet, she informs that she has a healthy smoothie once a week.

Workout routine

The actress says that she makes her own diet plans and as far as workout is concerned she regularly practises yoga at home. “I do yoga mostly in the mornings, on an empty stomach, and that helps me a lot in staying fit and healthy. The best part is that the only equipment I need is my yoga mat - nice and simple yet super affective.”

Stress management strategy

Mental health is of utmost importance and the fact is that mental health and physical health go hand in hand. If you are not mentally healthy and suffer from anxiety and stress, then it will definitely hinder you from achieving your full potential. Speaking of her stress management strategy, Anoushay emphasizes that it is very important to surround ourselves with positive people and that is the best way to manage stress. “Whenever I am stressed out, I hang out with my friends and that works wonders for me.”

Piece of advice

The Prem Gali actress advises all her fans to not confuse health with body weight or body type. “Don’t chase a false ideal figure. Keep a balance in what you consume daily - have ice cream but also have fruits, have a soda but make sure to incorporate a glass of fresh fruit juice in your diet as well. Health is not just a lifestyle, it’s a state of mind. Work on your mindfulness and physical health will come to you like a moth to a flame,” she concludes.
