May 31, 2020

It's been hot, horrid and frankly, a little depressing these last few months. While the world grapples with a pandemic and most of us change out of one set of pajamas to another, fashion and style have been on the backburner. Eid however, despite being small, intimate and marred by a national tragedy, was still celebrated privately. Celebrities dressed up in pretty outfits that provided respite from all the horrors of the world. Here are the looks that brightened up our day…

Hajra Khan

This picture exudes power, confidence and charisma. Striker Hajra Khan, captain of the women's football team, definitely scored with her navy shalwar kameez, luscious curly locks and tan Peshawari chappals. Femininity doesnt need to be frail to be beautiful, is what Khan proves to us, and we can’t wait to emulate her cool, androgynous style.

Meesha Shafi

Does Meesha Shafi ever put a foot forward that’s not well-shod? Our ultimate style queen, Shafi's ability to pull off any outfit is enviable. Her Eid look featured pieces from her wardrobe but the entire outfit felt fresh while still speaking of her unique style. We love how Shafi repurposes a blouse as a crop top with a cotton skirt that is reminiscent of local lehngas. A Bulbul jacket completes the look.

Kiran Malik

Welcome back to another Instep fashion favourite. Kiran Malik looks like a dream in her lacy white outfit accented with bold blue heels. Malik's ability to make a staple white outfit work for her like a custom couture creation is what endears her style to us. The small details like ornate silver earrings or pulled back hair for a summer friendly look prove that Malik pays attention to minute details that elevate her looks.

Maya Ali

We love the deep, jamun purple that actress Maya Ali chose to sport this Eid. In a sea of pale, pastel colours that tend to dominate summer, it’s wonderful when a style star packs a jewel toned punch. Ali played with traditional styling, bringing back images of Lucknawi women with their raw cotton ghararas and delightful malmal dupattas. Her simplicity is what makes this look a winner for us.
