Trending this week: Covid’19, what else?

Our lives have been taken over by the coronavirus and things we took for granted may never be the same again. The world of
entertainment is dealing with the change just as vigilantly as anyone else, coping with structural changes while trying to help wherever they can. Philanthropic work and donation drives are keeping some of our favourite celebrities active during the lockdown whereas others have taken it upon themselves to keep their fans entertained on social media. The not so fortunate are those stuck away from their homeland, as flights have been suspended. Instep gives you a lowdown…

Shamoon Abbas, Mohib Mirza & Sanam Saeed
appeal for flight back home

Amidst the global pandemic, some of our celebrities are stuck in Bangkok, Thailand, and have been unable to get back despite multiple appeals. Mohib Mirza, Shamoon Abbasi, Sanam Saeed and the crew wrapped up shooting Ishrat Made In China last month and since then, they have been waiting to get a flight back home. According to Shamoon Abbasi, a total of 144 Pakistani nationals need to be rescued. Unconfirmed reports suggested that they were getting a special PIA flight on April 11 but nothing concrete had surfaced at the time this story went into print. In a video posted on his social media, Mohib Mirza stressed that they have and will continue to take the preventative measures once they are back to Pakistan. Let’s hope they’re back home by now!

While many celebrities including Fawad Khan, Urwa Hocane and others have joined hands with Pepsi and Lays to provide food for the needy under the #Millions of Meals initiative, there are others who are supporting Asim Jofa in his mission. Adnan Siddiqui, Ushna Shah, Sonya Hussyn and Shaniera Akram have been stitching protective suits for the medical staff as part of Asim Jofa Cares. A complete step by step tutorial of the protective suit is now available on his official YouTube channel. “We urge everyone to take part in this noble cause and make protective suits at home for our front liners,” read a post on Asim’s official Instagram handle.
