Events in Lahore this week

Chalta Phirta Film Festival

on Sunday (today) at Olo Junction.

Timings: 2:30pm-8pm. Venue address: 43-A,

Block D, New Muslim Town.

The films to be screened at the festival include Sindhustan, Dunkey, a film about Pakistani migrants in Europe, InshaAllah Democracy, and Emmy-winning Armed with Faith, which follows the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Bomb Defusal Squad,

No entry fee.

Jhalli Kithay Jaway

an Ajoka Theatre play, shall be staged on March 16 at Shakir Ali Museum and Art Gallery. Timings: 6:30pm-7:30pm.

The play follows the life of Bhaga, a mentally challenged woman from a poor background whom the society calls “jhalli”.

Entry is free. Children under nine years are not allowed.

Aks Festival

a two-day event, opens on March 21 at Olo Junction. Start time: 5pm.

The festival consists of film screenings, art events, and dialogue with minority communities. The programme includes ‘Aks Dialogue - Sona Chandi by Moin Ulhaq’; exhibition of short film Dhuaan, followed by a talk with Ali Asgher on child protection; Aks Film: O Meri Amo, and a talk with noted screenwriter Faseeh Bari Khan on the representation of minorities in film and TV.
