Screening of The Boxing Girls of Kabul

hosted by High Commission of Canada in Pakistan and Olomopolo Media, on March 13 at Olo Junction.

Timings: 7:30pm-9pm. Venue address: 43-A, Block D, New Muslim Town.

This 2012 Canadian documentary film, directed by Ariel Nasr, follows the story of young women boxers and their coach at a female boxing academy in Kabul.No Entry Fee.

Siren Song: Understanding Pakistan Through its Women Singers

a new book by Dr Fawzia Afzal-Khan, shall be held on March 12 at The Last Word. Timings: 6:30pm-8pm.

Dr Afzal-Khan is a PhD in English from Tufts, a Fulbright alum, and professor of English and former director of the programme on Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at Montclair State University, USA. The panelists include Salima Hashmi, Yaqoob Bangesh and Taimur Rehman.

Art of Writing

begins Sunday (today) at Ajoka Theatre Pakistan office. Address: 24-B, Sarwar Road, Cantonment. Timings: 3pm-6pm.

The course, which will be geared towards developing scripts that can be featured on professional platforms, will be taught by Shahid Mehmood Nadeem, a former deputy managing director of PTV.

Duration of the course: 3 months (Sundays only)

Course fee: Rs 4,000 per month
