This past week was very diverse in terms of events happening across the country. From concerts to store launches to literary festivals, it kept celebrities busy while cricket fans remain occupied with PSL fever. Strings and Shamoon Ismail came together for a live gig while Khadijah Shah opened a new store for Zaha in Karachi. Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) 2020

The eighth edition of the annual Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) took place at the Alhamra Arts Center, Mall Road just last week. The three-day event continued its tradition of hosting eminent writers, historians, artists and opinion makers from Pakistan and abroad. With over a hundred speakers and 63 sessions presented this year, author Fatima Bhutto spoke about her book, New Kings of the World and also discussed the problematic East-West global cultural confrontation. Sanam Saeed along with author Sabyn Javeri discussed Javeri's second book Hijabistan as well as the all-encompassing veil that entraps some women—but can liberate others.

Store launch: Zaha by Khadijah Shah

During the past week, Khadijah Shah launched an outlet of Zaha in Karachi, which was accompanied by a colourful fashion show. Couturier Khadijah Shah’s new store opened its doors in Dolmen Mall, Clifton, where the who’s who of fashion industry turned up. Some of the celebrities spotted at the occasion included designers Maheen Khan and Deepak Perwani as well as PR guru Frieha Altaf and many others. Designer Khadijah Shah is seen here with one of the top models in the fashion scene, Mushk Kaleem.

Strings and Shamoon Ismail live in concert in Karachi

A concert, presented by Salt Arts, titled Nakaam Ishq Ke Naam featuring Strings and Shamoon Ismail, took place this past week at the beautiful venue that is the Beach Luxury hotel in Karachi. This was the first time that Strings and Shamoon Ismail performed together on a stage in front of a crowd of approximately 2500 people. While Shamoon Ismail opened the show in his typical fashion and lots of jiving on stage, Strings performed their latest songs such as ‘Raat Shabnami’ and ‘Sajni’ from their new album, Thirty as well as all-time hits, ‘Najanay Kyun’, ‘Mera Bichraa Yaar’ and many more.
