Malik is a Pakistani writer and medical doctor who divides his time between Orlando and Lahore. His short fiction has been reprinted in several anthologies. He has been nominated for the World Fantasy Award, the Story South Million Writers’ Award, and twice for the Nebula Award. In 2016, he became the first South Asian to win the Bram Stoker Award and the British Fantasy Award for Best Novella of the Year.
He co-founded The Salam Award for Imaginative Fiction, which is in its 4th year now.
The event will see Malik talk about “the power of short fiction and its uses both as literary propellers and entertainment powerhouses. He will also discuss the ‘story beneath the story’ in short fiction and the utility of writing workshops and whether they work.”
