Grammys 2020: Red carpet stars & their head-turning looks

February 2, 2020

The night saw some of music’s biggest names pull out all stops for the red carpet. Here are some of the stand-out looks.

This weekend the stars hit the red carpet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, also known as Music’s Biggest Night, to celebrate the greatest hits of 2019. Since its inception in 1959, the Grammys have emboldened musicians to make statements and this year was no different. Styled by the industry’s leading hairstylists and makeup artists, we spotted A-list celebrities flaunting old Hollywood waves, vibrant eye shadows, va-va-voom lashes, extravagant nail art, and bold lips on the red carpet.

Here’s a round-up of our favourite beauty looks...

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish, who took home five awards including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album, showed up in a monogram Gucci tracksuit in her signature neon-green roots. While we couldn’t see most of her glam behind those sunglasses, her colour scheme translated to her green nails, which were covered in the Gucci logo, designed by Emi Kudo.

Ariana Grande

After skipping last year’s Grammys, Ariana Grande made a gorgeous entrance on the 2020 red carpet. She wore a voluminous silvery grey gown by Giambattista Valli paired with Christian Louboutin heels, giving off an ultimate princess vibe. While she accessorised her look with diamond stud earrings, Ariana stayed true to her signature hair and makeup look. She sported a sleek blonde high ponytail with dramatically flipped ends along with soft, blended eye shadow coupled with classic jet-black cat eyeliner and peach glossed lips.

Dua Lipa

The pop star arrived at the 2020 Grammy Awards in a vintage-inspired, white Alexander Wang outfit. As for her makeup, Dua sported a shimmery, baby blue eye shadow, which was flawlessly blended to surround her brown eyes from the crease down to the lower lash line. She finished her look with fluttery lashes and a brown nude lip. Dua accessorized her bridal-inspired ensemble with a diamond necklace and statement earrings. Her two-toned tresses were styled into a sleek top knot by stylist Chris Appleton, who left two pieces loose to frame her face.

Sophie Turner

For the award night, the Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner went with a sparkling Louis Vuitton miniskirt and top from the label’s spring-summer 2020 collection. She opted for centre parted, sleek and straight hair, and kept her glam minimal with heaps of mascara on both the top and bottom lashes. Sophie Turner accentuated her overall look by a burst of color courtesy of her gorgeous, deep berry-colored lipstick. She certainly proved that a simple bold lip can amp up any look.

Jameela Jamil

The Good Place star, Jameela Jamil brought her A-game to the Grammys wearing a Georges Chakra blue and black shingle tiered ball gown. As for her makeup, you can always count on her to turn out some fantastic eye makeup and this glittery cobalt flick was no exception. In fact, her bright blue iteration was a fun departure from the more subtle glam we typically see on her. While Jameela kept the rest of her makeup fresh and glowy, the British actress opted for lustrous locks with bangs. Verdict’s in: It’s officially cool to match your makeup to your outfit.
