December 1, 2019

Instep gives you a lowdown on some of the most stunning and diverse hair and makeup looks that caughtour fancy at the AMAs ’19.

Katherine Langford

The 47th annual American Music Awards were recently held in Los Angeles, California, and brought together all the biggest names in the music industry. While the awards were handed to new stars like Post Malone, Billie Eilish and Halsey, the show also gave plenty of screen time to veterans like Kesha, the Jonas Brothers and Toni Braxton. However, the highlight of any awards show is its red carpet, where A-list stars put their most fashionable foot forward and the red carpet of AMAs ’19 was no different.

The awards ceremony was all about attention-grabbing looks and celebrities definitely brought their fashion A-game by opting for monochromatic dresses, glam makeup, sparkling accessories, edgy hairstyles and much more.

Instep picks out ultra glam red carpet looks from this year’s American Music Awards.

Katherine Langford

The 13 Reasons Why star, Katherine Langford went with an all red off-the-shoulder Rodarte creation at the 2019 American Music Awards. She not only looked stunning in her dress, but her makeup was definitely fashion-forward, to say the least. With her dramatic red velvet eye shadow and glossy skin, the actress completed her look with a neutral pink lipstick. Langford’s red-hot eye shadow extended all the way up to her brow and lined her lower lashes as well. With a centre parting and sleek pony, she flaunted a bedazzled hairline dotted with small gold beads.

Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello turned heads on the red carpet and looked absolutely ethereal in a beige high-low dress embellished with flowers by designer Oscar de la Renta. Cabello’s look had total fairy tale vibes, especially with her tousled bangs and Rapunzel-esque braid that reached all the way down to her waist. She opted for smokey brown eye makeup, an understated nude lipstick, and highlighter on the right points of her face.

Selena Gomez

The ‘Lose You to Love Me’ singer wore a lime green Versace dress, which featured a prominent ruffle detail that was lined with golden buttons. She opted for gold-bronze eye shadow and matte nude lipstick and definitely proved that you don’t need heavy makeup to look beautiful. However, it was her classy bob, parted down the middle that stole the show. While Selena’s sleek new bob haircut was slightly flipped under at the ends, her hair effortlessly shaped her face; making her look ultra-classy. Selena Gomez accessorized her outfit with a three-layer diamond necklace and finished off her look with matching lime green heels.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

For the red carpet, Taylor Swift, who won six awards and was named artist of the year and artist of the decade at the American Music Awards, chose to wear a custom glittering green Julien Macdonald gown, featuring a high-low dramatic skirt and fitted bodice. As if that wasn’t enough to grab your attention, she paired it with sleek, nylon, thigh-high Casadei boots. The pop superstar stuck to a minimal glam makeup look and opted for a nude lipstick, ditching her red lips on the red carpet. She completed her look with subtle smokey cat eyes and flushed cheeks. As for her hair, Taylor went with wavy side-swept strands and wispy bangs, which loosely covered her brows and perfectly shaped her face.

Halsey

Halsey

Known for her quirky style statements, the singer stepped out on the red carpet rocking a Marc Jacobs ruffled floral gown featuring an exaggerated train. As for accessories, Halsey chose coordinating butterfly rings and snowflake-like earrings to add a little bit more shine. She walked the red carpet with bleached-blonde eyebrows and rainbow eye makeup. The singer, who won the Favourite Song award for ‘Without Me’, went with shades of pink, and blue with hints of orange all around her eyes and brows. A few crystals near her eyes and a glossy nude lip colour was all she needed to complete this look. Halsey pulled her hair back into an edgy top knot, showing off her striking eye makeup even more.
