BEAUTY STATION! FPWF’19: Looking festive this fall

Instep Desk

This year’s FPW Winter/Festive 2019 showcased three days of trendy collections ranging from simpler party wear to heavier, festive wedding wear. The fact is that fashion runways have become an apt way of staying up-to-date with not just fashion, but beauty trends as well. And we spotted a number of gorgeous, glamorous looks that were specifically created for the show by Nabila’s creative team. While we saw models wearing some traditional, glittering hair embellishments on the runway, as for makeup, pretty pink and peach pouts took centre stage.

If there’s a big fat wedding coming up and you are confused on what makeup to sport, we have you covered. We picked a few significant wedding trends from FPWF’19 that you can easily recreate for an upcoming festive occasion.

Dewy, air brushed skin

Whether it’s for social soirees, family brunches or wedding festivities, perfectly contoured airbrushed and super-glossy skin is one trend that will always go strong. At fashion week, models sashayed down the runway with flawless dewy skin, bronzed cheeks and well-defined eyes that gave off a subtle glow and youthful appeal. Here’s what you can do to achieve dewy, air brushed skin. Start off by applying foundation - that matches your skin tone - on your entire face and blend well. Next, brighten up your under-eye area with a concealer and set it with a pressed powder. Then dust a bronzer on top of your cheekbones and across your forehead; this adds warmth and creates a subtle contouring effect. Finish with a flattering blush colour such as warm peach and pretty pink.

Brushed up eyebrows

We are so used to seeing ultra-defined, sculpted arches however; nowadays it’s all about more natural-looking, brushed-up eyebrows. And this is exactly what we witnessed at the show. Brushed-up eyebrows are all about looking natural, but that doesn’t mean you should ditch all efforts to make them look well-kempt. To create the most natural-looking brushed-up eyebrows, all you have to do is brush your eyebrows up and fill them in with the help of an eyebrow kit or pencil. Draw hair-like swipes from the base of your eyebrow up in the direction of your natural eyebrow hair. After filling in your eyebrows, it’s time to brush them once again to blend the product for a less perfect, more natural look.

Soft, romantic look

If you need to give your face some sultry oomph, going for smoky eye makeup is the safest bet. Though there are multiple versions of the smoky eye, it particularly adds that glam factor when a dash of metallic shade is added in the inner corner of the eye. At FPWF’19, makeup artists found a way to make the classic look innovative by using a shimmery brown eye shadow merged with black. The eye shade and liner were meticulously blended until it was hazy and glam. The look was finished with lightly stained pink lips - another beauty trend that we spotted. As for the hairstyle, we saw different kinds of buns but our favourite has to be centre parting hair with French braids on each side that ended in a braided bun.

Kohl rimmed eyes

Kohl-accented eyes have been popular for quite some time now. They not only create a smoldering effect, but the slightly smudgy band of black eyeliner is just perfect for a wedding. In fact, kohl rimmed eyes give off a ‘messy’ look without actually being messy. We spotted kohl-accented eyes with dewy skin and pink lip colour and paired with an embellished bun finished with soft tendrils - it definitely looked fresh yet regal at the same time.

Sleek low pony

A classic hairdo like the ponytail looks equal parts glamorous and effortless; and the best part is that anybody can pull it off quite easily. Models flaunted the sleek, silky ponytail with centre parting. The hair was gathered low at the nape and tied in a ponytail, pulling on the hair right above the elastic to soften up the style. Paired with highlighted skin, a subtle smoky eye and tinted lips, this style is a great go-to when you want something chic and sophisticated.
