CELEB HEALTH

We often wonder how models and actresses manage to stay fit and take out time from their tight schedules to hit the gym. While many celebrities follow a strict workout regime - like cardio exercises, cross-training and weight training - to improve posture and stability as well as decrease body fat and build lean muscle, there are some artists who prefer eating clean and healthy along with incorporating light exercises in their fitness routines.

It is certainly not easy to maintain a healthy lifestyle, especially when our stars are always on-the-go. However, the face of many fashion campaigns, model Zara Abid, who is all set to make her acting debut with Azeem Sajjad’s Chaudhry, firmly believes that a balanced meal, adequate sleep and a little exercise go a long way.

Known for her dusky gorgeousness, the model turned actress shares how she maintains a healthy lifestyle along with managing a hectic work routine…

Fitness goals

When it comes to health and fitness, Zara Abid shares that she is definitely not a health freak, but is careful about what she consumes on a daily basis. "It is no secret that we have a pretty busy schedule almost every day so I make sure to eat healthy, have a goodnight’s sleep and squeeze in some time for physical exercise," she said.

"If we talk about achieving fitness goals, I am not someone who will be too hard on herself. I set small yet specific goals - in fact I’m quite good with that - and monitor my progress regularly. As far as exercise is concerned I focus more on strength training and cardio."

Eating habits

Zara prefers a balanced diet. "I eat less throughout the day but I never miss breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day, especially my day. Just like everybody else I go for three meals a day - it starts with a wholesome breakfast, lunch and then a healthy dinner," she revealed.

"There aren’t any specific nutrients that dominate my diet but I keep a check on the nutrients and calories that I consume," she said, adding that she is a big time fan of the ABC (Apple, Beetroot and Carrot) detox drink.

"The ABC juice is a miracle drink with endless benefits. I would advise everyone to include this magical drink in their everyday diet."

Mental health vs. physical health

According to Zara, mental health and physical health go hand in hand and if you are not healthy mentally then you can’t achieve anything in life. "Mental health is something that you just CANNOT neglect and though seeking professional help at the right time is of utmost importance, we tend to ignore it completely," stressed Zara.

As far as stress management is concerned, the model turned actress follows the four As - Avoid, Alter, Adapt, and Accept. "I rely on these four As of stress management. Apart from that there is so much more that one can do; the first thing is to adopt a healthy lifestyle - it might seem difficult in the beginning but consistency is the key." She continued, "The next step is to take some time out for yourself and indulge in fun and relaxing activities. Also I believe that what we consume on a daily basis can make all the difference, so make sure you eat healthy."

Piece of advice

For Zara, a healthy lifestyle isn’t just about eating healthy and exercising. "It is so important for everyone out there to have a positive attitude towards life as well as build a strong positive self image," she concluded.
