From conferences tackling social issues to a creative festival and much more, it’s been a heavy-duty week for celebrities around the globe. Here are some hot and happening events that kept artists busy in the last seven days.

 

Creative Karachi Festival 2019

The third edition of Creative Karachi Festival (CKF) took place at the Alliance Francaise de Karachi recently. Initiated by T2F in memory of its founder, the late Sabeen Mahmud, the two-day event of interdisciplinary arts and creativity saw amazing performances by various bands including Surkhwaab and Tamasha among many others. Moreover, Jawad Sharif’s Indus Blues and Laal Kabootar (helmed by Kamal Khan) were screened during the two days. From Dastaangoi (storytelling) to qawwali to Kathak performance to dramatic readings and comedy specials, the festival was indeed, as Sabeen Mahmud had called it, a ‘non-stop party in the park’.

With the backdrop of the Grand Canal and a host of A-list celebrities in attendance, the 76th annual Venice Film Festival came to an end on Saturday, September 7, 2019. The 11-day festival, which brought together the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Meryl Streep, Penelope Cruz, Jude Law, Joaquin Phoenix, Brad Pitt and many others, saw the debut of some of the highly anticipated films and TV shows including Joker, Ad Astra, The King and The Young Pope. Celebs gather for Stop Child Abuse conference

PR guru, Frieha Altaf recently conducted a conference under the banner of Catwalk Cares that highlighted the issue of child abuse. Celebrities such as Ahsan Khan, Sarwat Gillani, Sheheryar Munawar, Shaniera Akram and Zhalay Sarhadi among others came together with activists, health experts and government officials to talk about sensitive issues such as physical, mental and emotional violence against children, child prostitution and trafficking and sexual abuse.

Men suit up for GQ’s annual party

At the 2019 GQ Men of the Year Party, several A-list stars suited up. Among them were Bodyguard star Richard Madden, Rocketman actor Taron Egerton, rapper Dave and former professional footballer David Beckham, who also took home awards. While David Beckham went the timeless route with a black and white tuxedo, Madden exuded old Hollywood glamour with his velvet blazer and bow-tie.
