BEAUTY STATION! Get your festive look right this Eid

Eid is almost here and this festive occasion calls for glitz and glam as far as hair and makeup is concerned. While the trick to being fashionable is to pair up outfits and accessories that make a statement, the fact is that your overall look won’t be complete without the perfect makeup and hairdo.

Read on as Saeeda Mandviwalla, CEO Toni&Guy (South Pakistan), shares some beauty trends perfect for Eid.

Flawless dewy skin

Be it fashion shows or red carpets, flawless dewy skin is one trend that is still going strong. "To achieve that perfect look, my first advice is to moisturise, moisturise and moisturise. This is the base for glowing, healthy skin. Use a moisturiser with a tint and SPF (sun protection factor) so that the skin is illuminated and fresh. Highlighter is key for this look and will give you perfect dewy skin at all times."

Key makeup looks

"Colourful eye shadow is summer 2019’s standout makeup trend. Deep rosy hues look stunning on dark skin tones and pastel pinks complement fair complexions best," revealed Saeeda Mandviwalla, adding that fresh makeup with bronzers to achieve that sun kissed glow is trending this summer.

"While smokey eyes are still in vogue, go soft on your bold and dark smokey eye looks this Eid. The key is to skip dark grey and black eye shadows and only work with brown hues to achieve that softer look. Add a bit of shimmer and a stroke of mascara to complete the look," she shared, adding that graphic eyeliners in black and brown are back. "From floating liners to extended cat eye, when it comes to this trend there’s so much that you can do."

In terms of lip colour, Saeeda said that creamy formulas are back to dethrone the matte trend. "While weightless formulas with high-impact colour will get you through the summer, think pink this summer for blush, eye shadow and lips."

Tress talk

"A lot of ponytails, topknots and braids will be trending this Eid as the warm weather continues. The look will be cool and trendy with loose waves or a smooth blow-dry," she informed.

As for haircuts, they can vary from short medium or long depending on face shape and hair type. "With colour, however, it will be lighter and brighter; it’s all about colour tones and depths of varying shades. Warm ash blonde and cool blonde along with cool brunettes with ash shades are all the rage this Eid."

According to Saeeda, floral up-dos are also very popular these days. "Summer flowers like sunflowers or chambeli will look stylish and fresh."

Hottest trend: hair accessories

"Clips and statement pins are ruling the runway and I see this as a big thing for festive occasion. To accessorise and add colour, scarves wrapped around the hair in different ways will also be seen during Eid time."

Manicure matters

Talking about nail trends, Saeeda shared, "Experiment with nail art – whether it’s all-out embellishment or a subtle nail art design, there’s never been a better time to embrace some art on your nails. You can opt for a halo of colour on a nude nail, or choose graphic designs. Nail art doesn’t have to be complicated."

As for nail colours, the stylist recommends the beautiful palette of seasonal shades by Nailberry – L’Oxygene Collection. The nail colours are halal, breathable and deliver colour in a healthier manicure. "Add a touch of magic to your nails by opting for ‘Pretty in Pink’ or ‘Lilac Fairy’ for those long summer nights. Apart from that, the classic coral shade is a must have to complete your vibrant summer look."

Tips & tricks

On how to keep our makeup oil-free, Saeeda suggests wearing waterproof makeup, especially on the eyes so that it does not melt in the heat. "Makeup should be minimal and matte so that it stays all day and you can also use a fixer to keep the makeup intact and make it long-lasting."

She also advises to add a brighter blush-on and lip colour along with a bronzer to change your look from day to night on Eid.
