Gold is never out of fashion but keeps getting better every time it strikes the eye. 2018 is certainly the year of everything glam; whether it is jewels, clothes or makeup. And when it comes to makeup, gold highlighter, glittery lips and metallic shades that sparkle your face are all making a comeback of sorts. Metallics have never been bigger in fashion and there is nothing richer looking than gold makeup; however, that doesn’t mean you go overboard with it. Here are some tips to perfect your golden glow this season.
Golden glow
Gold powder on the face may sound scary but it’s totally doable. Aim for a subtle shimmer that looks edgy yet chic. Grab one of the many gold-flecked luminizing powders available out there. Make sure you don’t apply it to your entire face. Just apply it above your cheekbones and slightly blending it down to the cheeks. Layer over or under a powder blush for a flawless look and that’s about it.
Gilded eye liner
A well thought out eye liner makes all the difference to your overall look. To add a subtle glint, rim your eyelids with a dazzling shade of liquid liner (as opposed to basic black or brown) and add two coats of mascara to enhance your eyes. Make sure to keep the liner on the skinny side and don’t end up making it look gaudy. However, for a subtler take on this trend, you can simply add some gold to your lower lash line with an eye pencil before applying mascara and that would serve the purpose too.
Glimmering shadows
Nothing beats gold if you want glimmering and gorgeous eyes. Be it matte, pearly, iridescent or glittery, you can accentuate your face with gold shadow applied all across the eyelids for a simple yet impactful statement. For a more dramatic effect, metallic gold smoky eye is the way to go. All you have to do is rim your lash line with bright gold shade, alongside black kohl liner applied to the top and bottom waterline. You can even add some gold to the inner corners of the eye for a brightening highlight.
Glitzy pout
It is not just your wrist that needs to be covered with gold bangles or your neck with golden chains, you can colour coordinate your pout too with your accessories. Instead of usual nudes or pinks, layer a gold lip gloss or lipstick on top of a deep red or any vampy colour of your choice, without making your lips look frosted. If you aren’t afraid of being bold, you can wear a golden lipstick or a gold gloss for maximum shine and decadence.
Glam up your nails
Want to amp up your everyday manicure? There’s no better way to show your love for a colour than to feature it in a fresh manicure. Make that mani glimmer with a shimmery gold nail colour. If gold is too bold for you then apply a glitter top coat in gold on your favourite nail colour and you are good to go.
