The 16th Lux Style Awards brought 5 Lux girls together under one roof. Instep wonders who the perfect Lux girl is amongst them

Lux girls through the years

While everyone had their eyes on the winners of the coveted Lux Style Awards, we couldn’t help but notice that the 16th edition of the award show had attracted 5 Lux girls to the ceremony: Reema, Meera, Mahira Khan, Mawra Hocane and Maya Ali, the latter two being the newest additions to the Lux family. There is one thing that has been established about Lux girls and that is their sheer elegance and grace which cannot be quantified. However, we can still try to understand the formula that makes the perfect Lux girl and the LSA was the perfect place to evaluate that.

Reema

Reema took stage to perform in a special segment that introduced Mawra Hocane as one of the new Lux girls. The two ladies danced to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan‘s ‘Tu Mera Dil, Tu Meri Jaan’ and Reema reminded us why we have been in love with her all these years. Achievements: Reema has been around in the industry since 1990 and has appeared in over 200 films. She even wore the director and producer’s cap for two films, Koi Tujh Sa Kahaan and Love Mein Ghum. She has years of experience and has worked with some of the biggest stars of the country, such as Nadeem Baig, Javed Sheikh and Shaan.

Style Quotient: Reema’s style hasn’t been her strongest point but over the years we’ve seen her groom herself and the way she appears. Today, she is one of the classiest and well dressed women on the red carpet.

Star Power: The actress maintains an air of mystery around her, something only a true star can manage. She walks in a room and commands attention but she’s always soft spoken and well composed. She’s very high on our radar.

Meera

The very famous Meera ji graced the LSAs with her presence and we were so thrilled to see her lighting up the red carpet in her glittering gold gown. While she was the only Lux girl who didn’t take the stage, we still couldn’t help but admire her from afar for the entirety of the show.

Achievements: Another serious star, Meera has been in the industry since 1995 and has numerous films under to her credit. She has even done films in India and has been known for being brave and bold for the kind of roles and work she’s done.

Style Quotient: This is the category in which Meera lacks. To this day, the star makes some good and bad decisions regarding her personal style.

Star Power: Meera Ji is one of the sassiest women of our entertainment industry and we love her confidence.

Mahira Khan

As promised prior to the show, we saw Mahira Khan in an entirely new avatar on stage. In a sketch written by Osman Khalid Butt, Mahira appeared in a rap battle against the Balu Mahi star and rapped about how she holds a strong position in the industry.

Achievements: We know Mahira for being part of some incredible projects. She captured the hearts of her fans as Khirad in Humsafar, and further cemented her position in the industry with Bol, Bin Roye and Ho Mann Jahaan. Of course, Mahira’s most recent stint opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees took her to a whole new level.

Style Quotient: She is easily one of the most well dressed people in all of Pakistan. Mahira always dresses to impress and never looks out of place. Whether she’s dressed in a figure hugging black gown on the red carpet, or a comfortable pair of jeans with a plain white tee, Mahira always looks well put together.

Star Power: It goes without saying that Mahira knows how to carry herself. She strikes the right balance between being the friendly, approachable girl next door as well as an untouchable star that can only be seen from a distance. We think she is the perfect Lux girl!

Mawra Hocane

There was a lot of buzz around the fact that Mawra Hocane is the new Lux girl and the buzz is an indication of times that have changed. Mawra is an established star but her claim to fame is her social media popularity, which is phenomenal. That said, she still hasn’t gotten there when it comes to stage presence or making an impression. We’re confident that she will, though. She is very, very young.

Achievements: The younger Hocane has fewer achievements under her belt as compared to the other Lux girls. She made a memorable debut in the Bollywood flick Sanam Teri Kasam and is recently busy with the TV play Sammi, which is extremely popular.

Style Quotient: Mawra has developed a distinct style and it’s very rare to see her dressed in anything less than fabulous. She does make a few fashion bloopers every now and then but overall, she usually brings her most fashionable foot forward.

Star Power: Mawra’s star power is her biggest strength. She is one of Pakistan’s most favourite celebrities and that can be seen with her growing social media presence (she has over a million followers on Instagram).

Maya Ali

Maya Ali took the LSA stage along with her Teefa in Trouble co-star Ali Zafar for a very unique and unusual performance. Dressed in a bright red Nomi Ansari ensemble, Maya Ali looked absolutely beautiful.

Achievements: Maya won the LSA for Best Actress (Television) this year for her performance in Mann Mayal. We may have hated the TV play, but the award proves that Maya came out strong despite massive critique and criticism. She has a film with Ali Zafar in the pipeline and has proven her acting mettle in countless other TV productions.

Style Quotient: Maya still has a lot to learn in terms of style but she never makes any serious mistakes on the red carpet.

Star Power: The actress may have a strong online presence but in person she is still not very memorable. The actress needs to work on her public persona. A Lux girl has to stand out!
