PSL closing ceremony

The second edition of Pakistan Super League, a Twenty20 cricket tournament featuring domestic and foreign players, concluded last Sunday in spectacular fashion in Lahore. Apart from the winning ways of Peshawar Zalmi – who picked up the trophy after beating Quetta Gladiators - the night counted thousands in attendance and featured several brilliant performances. Prior to the match’s beginning, Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy danced with some of his team-mates and stole hearts of all those who were on the ground and many more who tuned in to watch the final.

The star quotient on this night was high as Ahmed Ali Butt and Ayesha Omar hosted the ceremony and several high profile musicians performed.

Farhad Humayun’s claim-to-fame outfit, Overload showed the crowd just why it’s often referred to as the loudest band in Pakistan while Ali Zafar performed his catchy PSL anthem, ‘Ab Khel Jamay Ga’. In addition, Faakhir, whose career is seeing resurgence after Coke Studio 9, also took the stage while Ali Azmat, joined by Omran Shafique, Gumby and Kamran ‘Mannu’ Zafar, belted out a slew of famous songs. All in all, it was a victorious night for cricket and entertainment.

Apart from the scenic beauty and beautiful cinematography, CTS is introducing some new talent into the industry. Syra Shahroz, Mansha Pasha and Zhalay Sarhadi may not be new to the industry but are making their cinematic debut with the film, while Osama Tahir and Faris Khalid are completely fresh faces who have theatrical backgrounds. However, the newest addition to our industry is Kent S. Leung, a Canadian actor who has never worked in Pakistani films before.
