This was a busy week dotted with lawn launches, public service campaigns and events such as I am Karachi that has become a platform to bring the public together and honour unsung heroes of the city that we love. Instep recaps…

Cornetto Pop Rock

Ali-Azmat02
The recent launch of Cornetto Pop Rock, a new music initiative that aims to bring concerts back to universities as well as some sizzling music collaborations, pulled in some of the most exciting names in the business. Luckily for us, not only did the musical stars turn up but they turned up in a fashion that caught our attention.

Ali Noor and Ali Hamza often go for the casual look sporting jeans and tees but during this particular event both made a conscious effort and it paid off. While Ali Hamza opted for a blue kurta over a pair of dark jeans, older brother Ali Noor went with blue denims, a black shirt and an olive green-meets-grey waist coat. Similarly, Ali Azmat also went with a black sherwani jacket with silver buttons and crimson trimming to match his fiery trousers.

28 Days

Lifebuoy celebrated ‘28 Days’, an exhibition held as part of the soap brand’s neonatal health awareness campaign to educate mothers about infant mortality within the first 28 days of a child’s birth. Photographers Arif Mehmood, Malika Abbas and Tapu Javeri were asked to photograph the first 28 days in three different new born babies’ life and these images were exhibited as well as documented in a book. The event was well attended and endorsed by several celebrities who have young children, including Sarwat Gilani and Shaniera Akram.

Amongst soapy messages we did catch some serious style statements, with publisher Kiran Aman in Body Focus and Sarwat Gilani in an ethnic Sania Maskatiya outfit.

Khadijah-Shah-wearing-Elan-Lawn-(4)

Elan rocks the Casbah

Fashion’s reigning doyenne, Khadija Shah threw a Marrakesh themed coffee and cocktails soirée in Lahore to celebrate the success of Elan lawn. With Moroccan lamps, a profusion of blooms and blue lounges set up in her verdant lawn, attendees were transported to an exotic, Arabian courtyard where sheer white curtains fluttered gently in the breeze. Guests were served finger food and gob-smacking fruit concoctions.  And of course, almost everyone walked in wearing stylishly assembled versions of this year’s lawn.

I-am-Karachi

I am Karachi

The ‘I am Karachi’ event, held at the iconic Frere Hall, recognized visionary individuals who have shown inspirational resilience, hope, pride and determination in a time where most things appear dark and dismal. The event was headlined by a spell binding rock-symphonic version of the national anthem by Sounds of Kolachi. Award winning pop stars Sara Haider (in picture wearing a FnkAsia draped sari-dress), Zoe Viccaji and traditional singers were also showcased at the event. According to Maheen Khan, it felt like the Karachi of the seventies, when the city was thriving and bustling with progress and stability.
