The flurry of lawn joras has overshadowed everything else on the style scene and we’re happy to indulge in some celebrity spotting,especially when the image is light, airy and breezy. Other than back to back lawn launches, this past week also saw premieres of Kapoor & Sons and then of course, the Times of India Film Awards, held in Dubai, which featured quite a happening red carpet affair.

 

Who: Kareena Kapoor

Where: TOIFA, Dubai

Kareena’s plunging cleavage made headlines at the Pre-TOIFA bash that featured a fashion show by Faraz Manan but it was her oxblood togaesque gown, worn to the awards, that caught our eye for being so spot on trend. She looked stunning in a one shoulder Marsala gown designed by Indian designer Monish Jaising, which she wore with Nirav Modi statement earrings. Leaving her neck and hands bare and minimalist was a great idea.

Where: Sana Safinaz IT-girl lunch

Mahira (seen here with Sana Hafeez) is back from India, having completed her Raees spells, and she decided to drop in on a very glamorous Sana Safinaz IT-girl lunch to celebrate the launch of their Summer 2016 lawn collection. Dressed in a beautiful, vibrant jora featuring a Jacobian pattern in silk thread, she had tied her hair back and played it simple for summer. Look and learn.

 

Who: Iman Ali

Where: Zainab Chottani lawn launch

Iman has been spotted in Karachi several times in the recent year; it’s still ambiguous whether she has shifted to the coastal city or has been coming/going for work. Her long awaited film, Mah-e-Meer finally has a date of release (May 6, 2016) and perhaps that’s why she’s seen on the scene a bit more. We recently spotted her at Zainab Chottani’s lawn launch and she looked gorgeous which is hardly surprising for Iman. Take note: when in lawn, keep it simple and understated and wear your hemlines high!

 

Who: Areeba Habib

Where: Sindbad 25th Anniversary celebrations

Areeba Habib, one of the few pretty faces in the modeling zone these days, has become quite the poster child for Gulabo by Maheen Khan. This isn’t an easy look to pull off but Areeba does top to bottom stripes effortlessly and what we love is the dhoti shalwar that has become a statement in itself. The strappy white sandals play up the stripes and the toon clutch (also available at Accessorize) completes the look to perfection.

Frieha Altaf hosted a very hip and happening success party for Fawad Khan, who was in Karachi for the premiere of Kapoor & Sons last weekend. Though Sana’s understated (and impressively lean) look isn’t much of a style statement, we do feel the actress/anchor is trending on the fashion pages these days. It’s impossible to miss her on Asim Jofa jewellery billboards!
