Sound and style go hand in hand all over the world and popular musicians are some of the strongest style icons of their time. Think Madonna, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and you’ll instantly know what we mean. That magic hasn’t extended to our music industry yet; our overwhelmingly talented musicians opt to make rather underwhelming statements when it comes to their personal style. With the exception of Meesha Shafi and Hadiqa Kiyani, there’s hardly one signature style that can go down in history. While Coke Studio could have been an opportunity to change that, it didn’t and fell somewhat flat on the sartorial side even when the music managed to hit top notes. Who: Ali SethiWearing: Fahad HussaynWho says men can’t wear florals? Atif, take note. Ali looked classic yet chic in this androgynous floral jacket, in earthy colours, by designer Fahad Hussayn paired with a jumpsuit. Yes, you heard that right - a jumpsuit - and the best part is that he didn’t look the slightest bit weird. In fact, florals are having a fashion moment in men’s wardrobes this season and Ali was right on trend.
Who: Gul PanrraWearing: Adnan Pardesy and Debenhams with jewellery from stylist Ehtesham Ansari’s collectionYou can never go wrong with black on black, at least most of the times. With a voice as sweet as honey and a pretty face to go along with it, Gul appeared to have stepped out of a fairy tale in that Adnan Pardesy skirt and embellished Debenhams top. The metallic tribal mattha patti and cummerbund were the perfect accessories to break the monotony. We give full points.
Who: Sara RazaWearing: Personal collectionWho doesn’t love a classic black sari but there is just something about Sara Raza’s that’s bordering on tacky. This shimmering black blouse against an equally glittering, embellished sari with a gold lace border was almost blinding. The man-sized, circular ring wasn’t much of a saving grace either. Moreover, the overall outfit just adds years to the relatively young singer.
